Toyota Foundation Teaching Resource
$25.00
This pilot project funded by the Toyota Foundation developed a teaching resource based on version 9 of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics (AC:M) with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures content. The resource incorporates Prof. Chris Matthews’ Goompi Model that provides teachers with a framework for teaching mathematics in culturally responsive ways.
Both schools participating in this pilot project are on Wurundjeri Country, in Victoria. Both schools are part of the Marrung initiative by the Department of Education and Training in Victoria who worked closely with the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated and the Victorian Koorie Community to develop Marrung. Brookside P-9 College is in Caroline Springs in western Melbourne, and Heathmont College is in Heathmont, eastern Melbourne.
