Culturally Responsive Mathematics Resources

ATSIMA produces a comprehensive suite of culturally responsive mathematics resources designed to support educators in connecting mathematics with culture in meaningful and practical ways. Grounded in the GOOMPI Model, these resources help bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures to life within mathematics teaching and learning.

Our resources are carefully developed to align with the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics and can be localised to reflect the unique contexts of Communities and classrooms. They are designed to build educator confidence, deepen student engagement, and support improved learning outcomes.

ATSIMA’s resource suite includes:

  • Units of learning that integrate rich cultural contexts with key mathematical concepts

  • Detailed teacher guides to support planning and delivery

  • Teacher background information to strengthen cultural understanding and confidence

  • Webinars and videos that provide practical insights, examples and professional learning support

Together, these resources enable educators to create inclusive, culturally responsive mathematics experiences that connect learning with real-world contexts and Community knowledge.
