Invitation to Present: First Nations Thread at MAV Conference 2026

Invitation to Present: First Nations Thread at MAV Conference 2026
ATSIMA is pleased to be collaborating with the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV) to establish a dedicated First Nations thread within the MAV Conference 2026 program, to be held on 3–4 December 2026.
The MAV Conference Committee is seeking presentations that highlight:
  • Culturally responsive approaches to teaching and learning
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges in mathematics education
  • Community partnerships
  • Leadership
  • Initiatives that support improved mathematics outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners
To encourage greater First Nations representation at the conference, MAV will waive the presenter registration fee for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander presenters whose submissions are accepted. Please note that presenters will still need to register for the conference and cover any travel, accommodation and other associated costs.
Presenters are encouraged to clearly indicate if their presentation includes a First Nations perspective or showcases work relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mathematics education when submitting their abstract.
Your voice and experiences are important. By sharing your work, you will help strengthen understanding, inspire others, and contribute to meaningful conversations about culturally responsive mathematics education.
