ATSIMA welcomes Kym Oakley to the ATSIMA team

Welcoming Kym Oakley to the ATSIMA team as our new Project Manager.
Kym is a proud Malgana woman from Gathaagudu (Shark Bay, WA), an educator with 20+ years in Aboriginal education. She is passionate about teaching Aboriginal culture and knowledges, culturally informed practice, and strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples.
Kym joins us as Project Manager for BHP Foundation Education Development Fund (EDF) Portfolio Pilot project. ATSIMA pilot Culture Counts tests a Community-designed, culturally grounded mathematics curriculum in two remote Australian secondary schools serving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Co-developed with local communities and Elders, the pilot aims to improve student engagement and mathematics outcomes in contexts where conventional approaches have consistently underperformed.
We are so glad to have you with us, Kym.
