STEM CAmps
ATSIMA co-develops and coordinates STEM Camps in local and regional contexts, drawing on the strength of local cultural knowledge and expertise. Each camp is designed in partnership with Communities to ensure learning is relevant, respectful and connected to Country and Place.
These cultural STEM Camps for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners are typically delivered in partnership with local Aboriginal education consultative groups and departments of education . This collaborative model has proven to be highly successful in creating meaningful, engaging and impactful learning experiences for learners and educators.
Through immersive, hands-on activities and real-world problem solving, learners engage deeply with mathematics and STEM in ways that are culturally meaningful and inspiring. These experiences build confidence, strengthen cultural identity, and open pathways to future study and careers in STEM.
Due to strong demand and demonstrated impact, ATSIMA is expanding and further developing this proven model in collaboration with a diverse range of organisations across Australia. This growth will enable more Communities and learners to benefit from culturally responsive STEM experiences that connect learning with culture, place and opportunity.
